Make Some Pottery. You don't have to have a pottery wheel or even a kiln. You can still make pottery. It could be tiles, sculpture, pinch pots, a coil bowl, or slab work. Whatever you like. A few potters even find and use local clay deposits. But probably the best way to get started is to take a class. Have some fun and be creative.

USO Okinawa Hosts 2nd Annual Okinawan Pottery FestivalUSO Okinawa will be hosting the 2nd Annual Okinawa Pottery Festival in front of the Kadena USO this weekend, 18-19 October from 10am – 6pm. This is the only pottery festival catering to the military community on a military installation. Vendors include potters who have pieces displayed at the Japanese Museum of Art and personal shisa gifts for President Clinton. Shoppers will have the opportunity to read vendors’ bios as well as get the assistance of translators to ask questions. There will also be some demonstration booths for adults and children to learn basic pottery. For your added convenience, a Pack N’ Wrap service is readily available for boxing up the pieces to send home as holiday gifts to loved ones.
